February is one of the best months to visit the whole of Vietnam with pleasant, dry weather from north to south

Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) usually falls on early February (or end of January) with people all over the country returning to their hometowns for the biggest celebration of the year, creating a high demand for transportations and plane tickets. Vietnamese families also tend to travel to popular tourist destinations after New Year Day which making hotel prices soar during this time of year. If you are visiting Vietnam in February check the dates for Tet, plan and book everything well in advance

North Vietnam

February is spring time in the north with generally dry and mild weather.

Hanoi: Generally dry weather with mild, sunny days and sporadic rain.  

Ha Long: dry weather though can be misty in early mornings. Weather tends to brighten up around noon time with occasional bursts of sunshine. Water can be too cold for swimming but temperature is pleasant enough for kayaking (suitable clothing is recommended)

Sapa: Weather is getting more pleasant and less cold in February even though still misty and foggy. It is great weather for trekking and you can comfortably discover the beautiful mountainous scenery that Sapa is famous for.

Mai Chau: Very pleasant weather with an even mix of cloudy and sunny days. February is one of the best months to visit Mai Chau as it is spring time and you will see peach blossoms everywhere. The air is pure and fresh, making it ideal for trekking or cycling trips.

Central Vietnam

Central Vietnam is well in dry season in February. Hot, sunny weather (21°C - 30°C) with clear skies makes this an ideal time to visit.

Hue: dry, sunny & pleasant weather. A great time of the year to visit the royal tombs, mossy pagodas and monasteries that Hue is famous for!

Hoi An: dry, sunny and pleasant weather. February is a great time to visit the enchanting old town of Hoi An as its one of the driest months of the year.

Nha Trang: hot, sunny weather throughout the whole of February makes Nha Trang an attractive option for a beach break in central Vietnam.

Da Lat: warm, pleasant weather during the day and chilly at night. Da Lat is particularly picturesque during February when the cherry blossoms is in full bloom.

South Vietnam

February is the driest month in the south. Blue skies, sunshine and comfortably hot weather makes it ideal for walking trips or city tours. The beaches of Phu Quoc and Con Dao are at their best with crystal clear water and you might not want to miss those glorious islands in your itinerary!

Ho Chi Minh City:  Hot, sunny weather during the day. Nights and early mornings are cooler with lower humidity. Perfect weather for walking trips.  

Mekong Delta: hot, sunny weather! If you can, try to plan your itinerary so that you will visit Mekong Delta on the days leading up to Tet (when it is at its best) instead of on top of Tet (as there won’t be any floating market)

Phu Quoc: Hot, sunny with blue skies! The beach is calm and clear, ideal weather for a beach break!

Con Dao: Hot, sunny with blue skies although it is more windy and the sea can a bit more choppy than Phu Quoc’s.
